“F♯ A♯ ∞” (pronounced “F-sharp, A-sharp, Infinity”) is the debut studio album by the Canadian post-rock band Godspeed You! Black Emperor, released on August 14, 1997. The album is a collage of instrumental pieces, spoken word monologues, field recordings, and tape loops, creating an apocalyptic and atmospheric soundscape. It was recorded at the Hotel2Tango in Montreal and features lengthy tracks segmented into movements. Notable tracks include “The Dead Flag Blues,” “East Hastings,” and “Providence.”
