The album features a mostly acoustic performance recorded on November 18, 1993, at Sony Music Studios in New York City for the MTV Unplugged television series. Unlike typical MTV Unplugged performances, Nirvana’s set included lesser-known material and covers of songs by artists like the Vaselines, David Bowie, Lead Belly, and the Meat Puppets. The album includes iconic tracks such as “About a Girl,” “The Man Who Sold the World,” and “Where Did You Sleep Last Night?” It received critical acclaim and won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Performance in 1996.
