STRFKR - STRFKR
STRFKR - STRFKR
Despite their borderline offensive band name, Portland’s Starf***** play electronica-inspired indie rock that is sweet on the ears. On their self-titled debut, the trio filter addictive pop hooks and mature arrangements through pristine electronic production. Opener “Florida” builds a strong melodic presence from guitars and synths, while “German Love” is a more straightforward sing-along. Instrumental tracks like “Rawnald Gregory Erickson The Second” and “Miss You” are equally interesting, as the band’s musical choices are complemented nicely by their top-notch production skills. By the end of the album, Starfucker come across like Coconut Records jamming with Ratatat or M83, combining laidback pop structures with epic electronic elements, creating a debut album that cannot be missed.
